    Week 1: Preparing for Summer – Creating Predictability in an Unpredictable Season

    •           Introduction to the course and the participants

    •           Managing transitions from school to summer break

    •           Communicating upcoming changes to your child

    •           Creating visual schedules and sensory-friendly routines

     

     

    Week 2: Emotional Regulation – Tools for You and Your Child

    •           Understanding stress responses in neurodivergent kids

    •           Co-regulation strategies

    •           Self-care and emotion regulation for parents

     

     

    Week 3: Sensory Needs – Navigating Overstimulation and Under stimulation

    •           Sensory profiles and how summer activities impact them

    •           Creating calming or stimulating environments at home or out

    •           Managing meltdowns and shutdowns

     

     

    Week 4: Social Life and Loneliness – Supporting Connection

    •           Helping your child maintain or build friendships

    •           Dealing with isolation as a parent

    •           Inclusive activities and playdates

     

     

    Week 5: Behaviour Challenges – Reframing and Responding with Empathy

    •           Understanding behaviour as communication

    •           Practical strategies for common summer behaviour struggles

    •           Collaborative problem-solving

     

     

    Week 6: Empowerment and Reflection – Celebrating Wins and Planning Ahead

    •           Sharing what’s worked

    •           Reflecting on growth

    •           Building a strengths-based plan

     

    Course Format

    -              6 x 90minute group video call sessions

    -              Connect by Zoom (link will be sent out each week)

    -              Content and Exercises to do between each session

    -              Explore weekly content as a group

    -              Opportunities to ask your own questions to cover any personal areas of interest

    -              Private Facebook group to be connected with the other participants throughout the course and beyond

    Participants

    The course will run with a minimum of 2 participants and a maximum of 12. (In the unlikely even that a course does not have enough participants to run, you will receive a full refund).

Purpose: Help children recognise and label escalating emotions before they lead to impulsive actions.

How to use: Review regularly and encourage kids to point to the level of what they are feeling. Practice using coping tools (Impulse Control Choice Board/Traffic Light Chart) before getting to the Red.

Purpose: Helps kids pause and process before acting

How to use: Place it on desks, walls, fridge doors - anywhere visible for your child to see. Reference the steps in situations where child may be becoming dysregulated or about to make a not so good choice

Impulse Control Choice Board

Purpose: Provides alternative actions when a child feels an impulse coming on.

How to use: Let children help choose which tools they would like to use in moments of distress or uncertainty. Keep it accessible to encourage daily practice.
