About my neurodivergence coaching methods
I specialise in coaching families navigating the challenges of neurodivergence including:
ADHD
Autism
Executive Function Deficits
Anxiety related to neurodivergence
Homeschooling & alternative education for neurodiverse children
While many parents seek coaching after receiving a diagnosis for their child, I also work with families who suspect neurodivergence but have not yet received an official assessment. My goal is to provide actionable strategies that improve daily life, regardless of diagnosis.
My Approach
My coaching philosophy is simple:
Parents don’t need to be perfect; they just need the right tools and mindset to support their children effectively.
I take a shame-free, practical, and strengths-based approach to working with families.
Each session is designed to ensure YOU are at the centre. Upon receiving your executive functions skills results, I use the following structure for you to get the most out of the session.
Connecting with you to make you feel safe and relaxed
It can be daunting starting a coaching session with a stranger. So, at the beginning of each session, we do a short grounding exercise, this is a proven method to enable you to relax into the session.
Identifying your ‘Wish’ and Ideal Outcome
I find as parents we always dismiss the idea of the ideal situation – let’s be honest, we tell ourselves it’s not possible. But research shows that identifying your wish and ideal outcome creates the space for you to strengthen mental associations, which leads to better performance. This method also creates in you motivation, enabling you to make clearer decisions and take action.
Clarifying your Executive Function Skills & Obstacles
From completing the EF questionnaire, you will be aware of your EF skills and be able to link this to the obstacles or things getting in the way for you as a parent, or for your child. Concentrating on both the positive outcome (from the previous step) and obstacles at the same time is much more likely to lead to success.
Introducing and Supporting Behavioural Change Strategies (without Punishment)
Working with, and to understand those who are neurodiverse, there is no ‘right way’ of behaving, thinking and learning. The strategies I use therefore promote behaviour change through understanding parents and/or the child’s needs and aligning their unique strengths and needs for what will support them best. This also encourages confidence and positive self-esteem.
Creating a step-by-step plan
We create a bespoke plan for you to follow each week. This is a small step that you can take to work towards your wish and ideal outcome. Each session, we review what has and hasn’t worked, and adjust the plan accordingly, to ensure we are always in alignment for what’s best for you. Creating a plan allows you to gain perspective and identify priorities.
